Devil’s Lake, North Dakota Travel Guide

Introducing Devil’s Lake, North Dakota! Home to around 7,000 residents, this town sits on Devil’s Lake in northeastern North Dakota. Devil’s Lake is the largest natural lake in the state and known as the perch capital of the world. The area provides visitors with great fishing and hiking, museums, and restaurants to explore. Located near Grand Forks, MN (1hr 25min, 90 miles), Fargo, North Dakota (2hr 30min, 165 miles), and Winnipeg, MB (3hr 30min, 190 miles), Devil’s Lake is a great weekend getaway for sportsmen. North Dakota is full of great outdoor recreation, and Devil’s Lake is no exception! Spend time on Devil’s Lake State Park (Grahams Island State Park), located on an island on the lake, to enjoy fishing, boating, hiking, swimming, and camping. Consider taking a drive through White Horse Hill National Game Preserve to spot large game animals in the wild. Take a trip to Ruger Park to play their disc golf course or hit the swimming pool.

Devil’s Lake has great history too. See the Sheriff’s House Museum, a preserved 1910s-era era home, or check out Fort Totten State Historical Site to learn about the military site. The Lake Region Heritage Center also has great information on local history. Other cool spots to hit include Spirit Lake Casino and Resort to kill some time and White Dragon a metaphysical store.
